ASEDG officially recognised as a public-interest organisation by the Canton of Geneva

By decision of 8 January 2026, the Geneva cantonal tax administration confirmed that the Association suisse pour l'éducation à la démocratie et à la gouvernance (ASEDG) fulfils the conditions for public-interest status. The association is now exempt from tax for a period of five years.

This recognition marks an important milestone for ASEDG, founded in Geneva in 2025 by a collective committed to civic education and good governance. It demonstrates the relevance of its mission and strengthens the credibility of its work with its Swiss and international partners.

A recognition that opens new prospects

Public-interest status, granted in accordance with articles 9 para. 1 let. f of the Law on the Taxation of Legal Entities (LIPM) and 56 let. g of the Federal Law on Direct Federal Tax (LIFD), enables ASEDG to strengthen its financial foundations and accelerate the development of its educational projects.

Registered in the Geneva commercial register under number CH-660.8.081.025-6 (UID: CHE-146.344.226), the association can now receive tax-deductible donations, making it easier to mobilise private and institutional support.

Projects underway

This recognition comes at a time when ASEDG is rolling out its first pilot projects — in Guatemala and Togo — and actively developing the international training platform edhub4democracy.org. It reinforces the association's co-construction approach alongside local actors committed to participatory democracy and active citizenship.

ASEDG warmly thanks its founding members, partners and supporters for their trust and commitment, which made this official recognition possible.
